The places you'll visit

Lerwick is the main town and port of the Shetland islands and it’s a busy fishing and ferry port. The harbour also services vessels supporting the offshore oil industry.

On the Shetland islands you’ll recognize influences of both Scotland and Scandinavia, for example: the old Norwegian language you find in names of villages and spoken dialects. Also well-preserved archeological settlements are reminders of the 'Viking' past.

Sumburgh airport is the main airport and from here you can fly to Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Kirkwall.

Reykjavik is the capital and largest city of Iceland and is world's Northernmost capital of a sovereign state. Icelandic culture is founded upon the nation's Scandinavian heritage. Most Icelanders are descendants of Norse and Gaelic settlers.

Geographically Iceland is known for its volcanoes, glaciers and the natural phenomenon of geysers.

The international airport of Iceland, Reykjavik/Keflavik airport, lies about 3 miles from the citycenter of Reykjavik.
